Membership Criteria


Full Membership

To be eligible for full membership of SEPA applicants must:

  • Be a nationally registered Physiotherapist in Australia or New Zealand

  • Have five years full-time equivalent experience in musculoskeletal
    physiotherapy practice with a minimum of 5,000 hours of practice
    in the area of shoulder and elbow dysfunction

  • Work at least 30% of their time in the area of shoulder and elbow physiotherapy

  • Submit an application form to SEPA

  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a Physiotherapist, Medical practitioner or Orthopedic Surgeon

  • Pay the annual SEPA Membership fee of $100

  • Maintain active participation in SEPA over a 4 year period by:

    • Presenting at a SEPA Biennial Conference

    • Presenting at SEPA Zoom PDs evenings

    • Assisting with creation of SEPA Newsletters

    • Conducting or participating in SEPA sponsored education or research projects

Associate Membership

To be eligible for associate membership of SEPA applicants:

  • Be a nationally registered Physiotherapist in Australia or New Zealand

  • Be able to demonstrate an interest in shoulder and elbow Physiotherapy but are not currently able to meet SEPA’s full membership criteria

  • Submit an application form to SEPA

  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a Physiotherapist, Medical practitioner or Orthopedic Surgeon

  • Pay the annual SEPA Membership fee of $50

  • Apply for full membership of SEPA within 4 years
